Following a dominant and unbeaten run in 2024 that saw them crowned Eastern Storm Veterans League champions, the CBC Crusaders return to the field this season as clear front-runners—and once again, the team to beat.
With ambitions firmly set on retaining their title and earning another shot at representing Eastern Storm at the national Veterans Club Championships, the Crusaders are looking to make an early statement when the league kicks off this weekend.
Boasting a squad packed with experience and talent—including several Eastern Storm provincial stalwarts and former Protea players—CBC have every reason to be confident. Their high standards and competitive edge were evident throughout last season, and there’s little indication they’ll slow down in 2025.

Leading from the front is captain Johan Fourie, fresh off a successful campaign at the recent Over-40s Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT). Fourie captained the Eastern Storm side to the 45-over title and a third-place finish in the T20 format, while also guiding his team through the competition unbeaten—the only side to achieve the feat.
“This team not only has quality but real big-match temperament,” Fourie noted ahead of the season opener. “We’re ready to build on what we achieved and take it to the next level.”
The Crusaders' lineup reads like a veterans’ all-star list, with the likes of Pieter Booysen, Thys Neethling, Nico de Klerk, and André Johnson among a deep and experienced core. Their chemistry, leadership, and proven ability under pressure make them formidable opponents on any day.
As Match Day One approaches, all eyes will be on the defending champions to see if they can pick up where they left off—and once again set the tone for another thrilling Eastern Storm Veterans season.
